Funeral services for Bill Wilson, age 87, of Sulphur Springs will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in Spence Chapel at First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs with Rev. Jerry Speight officiating. Military graveside under the direction of Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with Denny Wilson, Brent Wilson, Shane Wilson, Clayton McGraw, David Webster and Roby Niles serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6 till 8 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2009 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
William "Bill" Lavern Wilson passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on October 8, 1921, the son of William Leonard and Cleo Lovelace Wilson. He married Wilma Mary Wilson on July 4, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington. She survives.
He served in the United States Navy and was Pearl Harbor Survivor. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs and the Hopkins County Military Coalition.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughter-in-laws, James Robert & Carolyn Wilson of Crowley, and William Lynn & Virginian Wilson of Sulphur Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen & David Webster of Mansfield; grandchildren, Tracy Lea Niles, Denise Wilson, Denny Wayne Wilson, Cris Allen Wallace, Brent Douglas Wilson, Cris Harvey and Shane Wilson; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother, Leonard Doyle Wilson and sister, Hestia Simpson
