Funeral services for Waymon Pullen, age 78, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Greenpond Missionary Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011, with Rev. Loyd Cashion officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Greenpond Cemetery, with Steven Pullen, Lee Pullen, Chris Pullen, Greg Pullen, Curtis Pullen, Allen Morris and Ricky McElroy serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Waymon Pullen passed away Tuesday. May 10, 2011 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hopkins County on June 16, 1932, the son of Bud Pullen and Anneta (Douglass) Pullen. He married Peggy Teer in the Greenpond Community on May 24, 1953; she survives. Mr. Pullen was a retired tool and die maker for Dahlgreen and a member of the Greenpond Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Other survivors include: three sons, Steven Pullen, Lee Steven Pullen and Christopher Lynn Pullen, all of Sulphur Springs; sister, Mary Wilkinson of Garland; grandchildren, Triston Pullen and Ryan Pullen and great-granddaughter, Makayla Pullen. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy Pullen, Roy Pullen, Buck Pullen and George Pullen and two sisters, Frances Hussey and Margaret Pickering.
