Funeral services for William R. Myers, age 89, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February7, 2008, at Central Baptist Church. Bro. Kenneth Rhoades and Vaughn Myers will officiate.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hopkins County Military Coalition at the New Sherley Cemetery, with Troy Thomas, Cody Myers, Steven Palmer, Nthan Morel, Joey Weatherford, and Michael Malone serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Myers' great-grandsons, Steven James Palmer and Troy Philip Thomas, Jr.
Visitation will be from 6:00 t0 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Myers passed away at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, on Sunday evening, February 3, 2008. He was born in Talihina, Oklahoma, on October 1, 1927, the son of George Luther and Laura Francis McGowen Myers. He married Alma Ruth Russell in Emory, on April 8, 1949. She survives.
Mr. Myers was an aircraft painter at E-Systems and a member of Central Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
Other survivors include: a son, William Vaughn Myers, of Greenville; a daughter, Sharon Rena McBride, of Paducah, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Wendy Kay Palmer, Becky Rena Malone, Rolanda Rae Morel, William Cody Myers, Melanie Dawn Thomas, Mistie Lynn Green, and Kennth Wayne Harbin, Jr.; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Odell Sandlin of Girard and Otis Craig of Snyder.
He was preceded in death by one brother; and six sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at Central Baptist Church and/or the Misson Fund at Mineral Heights Church in Greenville.
