Funeral Services for Wendell Crist, age 73 of Yantis will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at County Line Baptist Church in Yantis with Bro. David Bagwell , Bro Troy Holingsworth and Bro John Crist officiating. Interment will follow in the Yantis Cemetery with Wade Crist, Joseph Crist, Gus Crist, Jordan Crist, David Giesecke, Daniel Wyatt and Shawn Wyatt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Colton Crist, Cassie Giesecke, Destiny Garces, Jennifer Crist and Little John Crist. Visitation will be 6 till 8 pm, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home.
William Wendell Crist passed away Friday, February 08, 2013 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Anderson County, TX on January 10, 1940 the son of William Woodrow and Almeda Frizzell Crist. He married Myra Shirley on June 17, 1961 in Yantis TX. She survives. He retired from Rockwell International and from the Yantis ISD. Wendell had served on the Yantis ISD School Board, active and founding member of the Yantis Fire Department, help start the Yantis Little Dribblers Basketball and T-Ball Leagues. He was a member and Deacon at the County Line Baptist Church for over fifty years. Wendell had cooked many pots of stew and fried fish for many organization through the years. He loved his family and Community of Yantis dearly.
Other survivors include; four sons , Wesley Crist & wife, Deborah , Kelvin Crist & wife, Michelle, and Nathan Crist & wife, Tina all of Yantis, and Rodney Crist & wife , Debbie, of Pickton; two brothers, Harold Crist and wife, Ann, and Larry Crist and wife , Janis, both of Yantis; grandchildren, Jennifer Crist, Wade Crist, Jordan Crist, John Crist, Joseph Crist, Gus Crist, Daniel Wyatt, Shawn Wyatt, Cassie Giesecke and Destiny Garces; nine great grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
