William Bennett, age 80, of Sulphur Springs, passed away Thursday morning, February 5, 2009, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home. He was born in Fresno, California, on August 2, 1928, the son of Ralph and Mary Chernikoff Bennett. He married Dorothy Parkins in Fresno, California in 1973. She preceded him in death. Mr. Bennett was a retired truck driver. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Survivors include: two sons, Mark Bennett and wife, Tara, of Sulphur Springs and Randy Bennett of Ceres, California; four stepsons, Rusty Means and Victor Means, both of Reedley, California, Rodney Means of Fresno, California and Doug Means of Tehachapi, California; three stepdaughters, Pam Means, Debbie Corgiat and Robin Means; two brothers, Larry Bennett and Stan Bennett, all of Fresno, California; grandchildren, Austin Bennett and Jordin Sharp; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Roger Means and stepdaughter, Lisa Barker.
