Funeral services for Wilburn Ray Penny, age 70, of Sulphur Springs have been scheduled for 2:00p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Rhoades officiating. Interment will follow at Shirley cemetery with Weldon DeWitt, Larry Vititow, David Penny, Jeramy Rawson, Eric Rawson, and Luke Penny serving as pallbearers. The Crusader Class of Central Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers along with Don Deaton, Jimmy Don Goldsmith, Jerry Mercer and Dr. I. L. Balkcom. A visitation will be held at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home Friday, August 09, 2013 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.
Wilburn Penny was born March 25, 1943 the son of Andrew and Lena Mae Logan Penny in Talco. He married Letra May Rodecker in Irving, on June 18, 1960. She survives. Mr. Penny was a barber for 47 years and a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Penny passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
Survivors include: daughters, Laura Lee Smith, and husband, Don, Brenda Lee Smith, and husband, Robert, and Lisa Marie Crayton, and husband, Russell, all of Sulphur Springs; son, Frank Penny, and wife, Omie, of Sulphur Springs; sister, Bennie Booth, of Frankston; brother , Lewis Penny, of Streetman; grandchildren, Shane Fite, David Penny, Jeramy Rawson, Eric Rawson, Luke Penny, Dylan Crayton; great grandchildren, Hayden, Baylie, Shelbey, Chase, Ally, Ashlyn, Jandi, Baden, William, Ameris, and Kaden. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Linda Darnell Penny, Amy Ruth DeWitt; brother, Melvin Penny; nephews, Larry DeWitt, Daryl DeWitt; great nephews, Daniel DeWitt and Jace DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or to a favorite charity.
