Masonic Service for W.D "Red" Barnett, age 88, of Mt. Vernon, TX will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Stinson officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon till 1:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
W.D. "Red" Barnett passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas. He was born in Hopkins County, TX on June 21, 1925 the son of John Robert and Eppie Nora Nichols Barnett. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was past Worshipful Master of Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #221. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Brother, Horace Ray Barnett of Mt. Vernon, two sisters, Lois Roberts of Italy, TX and Francine Clark of Garland, sister in law, Mary Frances Barnett of Sulphur Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hopkins County Veterans Memorial or Central Baptist Church.
