Funeral services for Wayne Sharber, age 81, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Mr. Sharber's grandsons, Kevin Wilkes and Cory Wilhite serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Wayne Sharber passed away Sunday evening, March 11, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Dallas on February 8, 1931, the son of Reuben Sharber and Bertie (Jaggers) Sharber. He married Jana Lou Douglas. She preceded him in death. He married Verna Raley Mitchell. He was a retired postmaster with the United States Postal Service and a member of League Street Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Other survivors include: five daughters, Diana Harris of Mesquite, Waydean Slagle of Palmer, Lynda Presley of Dallas, Dana Wilhite and Tena Wilkes; son, Greg Mitchell, all of Sulphur Springs; sister, Cynthia Parson of Houston; grandchildren, Tom Harris, Donnie Slagle, Marty Slagle, Natashia Slagle, Terry Wayne Presley and Jana Walker; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Marjorie Pierce.
