Funeral services for Wanda Dodd Smith, age 64, of Como, will be held at First United Pentecostal Church in Sulphur Springs, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009, with Rev. James Anderson and Rev. Cecil Dodd officiating. Interment will follow at Greenpond Cemetery, with Jerry Wayne Dodd, Aaron Dodd, Corey Dodd, Jason Dodd, David Dodd, Donald Dodd and Glen Dodd serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Wanda Dodd Smith passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2009, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home. She was born in Sulphur Springs, on July 18, 1944, the daughter of John H. Dodd and Doris (Gibbins) Dodd. She married James E. Smith in Hopkins County, on March 23, 1963; he survives. Mrs. Smith was employed in retail sales. She was a member of New Life of Mt Vernon Church.
Other survivors include: son, Darren Smith of Como; two daughters, Shannon Hanna of Leonard and Seleatha Houston of Euless; three brothers, Jerry Dodd of Brashear, Robert Dodd of Como and Randy Dodd of Sulphur Springs and five grandchildren, Julie Hanna, Micaela Houston, Hollie Houston, Courtney Houston and Stephanie Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John D. Dodd. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
