Virginia Douglas

Funeral services for Virginia Douglas, age 93, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Eddy Ketchersid will officiate.

Interment will follow services in the Seymore Cemetery, with Lloyd Douglas, Patrick Mockler, Steven Douglas, Kendall Douglas, Billy Ray Douglas, Jerry Tramel, Robert Spurgeon, Caleb Baker, and Kyle Kimmons serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Douglas passed away on Friday evening, June 19, 2009, at Whispering Pines Lodge Nursing Home, in Longview. She was born in Abilene, Texas, on December 16, 1915, the duaghterof Louie E. Whitt and Blanche G. Stokes Whitt. She married Lawrence "L.C." Douglas, on October 7, 1933, in Farmersville, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker and a member of Seymore Church of Christ.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Ray Douglas, of Sulphur Springs, and Norman Douglas, of Arlington; a sister, Christine Stroup; grandchildren, Janet Spurgeon, Nancy Tramel, Kendall Douglas, Steven Duglas, Chanda Mockler, and Lloyd Douglas; great-grandchildren, Dakota Byker, Bailey Byker, Zachary Mockler, Taylor and Tyson Douglas, Blake Douglas, Caleb Baker, Amy Mata, Rachel Spurgeon, Rebekah Spurgeion Darrell Douglas, Kaitlen Douglas, and Brenda Kimnmons; and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cumi Taylor; a brother, Louis Whitt; one great-grandcild; and one great-great grandchild.
