A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition for Vernon Elledge, age 85, of Pickton, will be conducted at Winterfield Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012. There will be no formal visitation.
Vernon Elledge passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 17, 2012 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Pickton on November 21, 1926, theson of Sid Elledge and Salina (Miller) Elledge. He married Dorothy Richmond in Sulphur Springs in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1993. He married Lovis Edwards who preceded him in death in 2009. He was a machinist and a gardener. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: two sons, Vernon Elledge and Sid Elledge, both of Pickton; stepson, Clay Edwards; stepdaughter, Lana McQueen, both of Sulphur Springs and step-grandchildren, Eli McQueen and Emily McQueen. He was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters.
