A funeral service for Venera Ann Dodd, age 75 , of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Bryant and Rev. C. R. Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Sterling Cemetery, with Brandon Hopper, Eugene Clark, David Reynolds, Sr., Paul Tacker, Bruce Stinson, Trevor Tacker, Randy Hopper, Miles Varner and Clint Buckley. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Venera Ann Dodd passed away Friday morning, December 6, 2013 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born in Hopkins County on June 29, 1938, the daughter of Earl Posey Hopper and Edith M. (Reynolds) Hopper. She married James M. "Jimmie" Dodd in Dallas on April 4, 1958; he survives. She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper and a member of First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: sons, David Dodd and wife DeeAnn, Mike Dodd; chosen sons, Lupe Sandoval, all of Sulphur Springs and Bobby Sandoval of Mt. Pleasant; chosen daughter, Hope Quinn of Freeport; stepfather, Claude Chapman of Sulphur Springs; brothers, Kenneth Hopper and wife Linda of Como and C. R. Chapman and wife Debbie of Ben Wheeler; sister, Ann Ratliff and husband John of Midlothian; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister, Rebecca M. Hopper.
