Vallie McElvy, age 92, of Sulphur Springs passed away Wednesday evening, December 25, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. She was born in Cumby on January 7, 1921, the daughter of Clyde Ferguson and Lovie Mayes Ferguson. She married Newman L. McElvy. He preceded her in death in 1963. She was a retired telephone operator and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry McElvy and wife Ann of Greenville and
Eddie McElvy and wife F.E. of Tyler; two brothers, Jack Ferguson of Arlington and Johnny Ferguson of Miller Grove; three sisters, Mary Lou Aiken of Miller Grove, Ruby Long of Ft. Worth and Bonnie Callan of Mesquite; grandchildren, Brian McElvy, Jana McElvy, Andrea Umlauf, Jennifer Fults, Andrew Foxwell and Callie Pollock and great-grandchildren, Kennedy Foxwell, Presley Foxwell, Arin Umlauf, Allison Umlauf, Macie Fults and Payton Fults.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
