Funeral services for Thelma Sims Garrett, age 92, of Cumby will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2012, with Rev. Jim Moore and Rev. Roy Ditmar officiating. Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery, with Marvin Joe Sims, Jeffery Sims, Ronald Sims, Donald Sims, Shawn Sims, Brian Sims, Dean Mobley and Mark Sims serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Stone. Visitation will be one hour before the service (1:00 p.m.)
Thelma Sims Garrett passed away at Carriage House Manor Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012. She was born in Peerless on February 19, 1920, the daughter of J. J. Fouse and Florence Cora (Bain) Fouse. She married Marvin Sims. He preceded her in death. She married Louie Garrett. He preceded her in death. She was a retired nurse from Longino Clinic and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Thelma Jo Thompson and husband, Richard, of Cumby, Joyce Bledsoe and husband, Wayne, of Sulphur Springs and Bobbi e Woodard and husband, Lewis, of Miller Grove; four sons, Kenneth Sims and wife, Sue, of Barry, Joseph Sims and wife, Vickie, of the Bonanza Community, Jimmy Sims and wife, Minette, of Cumby and Mac Garrett and wife, Sandra, of Miller Grove; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by brother, Clyde Fouse; three sisters, Allene Moyer, Vera Goldsmith and Ruby Fouse and one grandchild, Janae Littlefield.
