Thelbert Banks

A funeral service for Ray Banks, age 63, of Dennison will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Martin Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Ray Banks passed away Wednesday night, March 6, 2013, at The Terrace at Denison in Denison, TX. He was born in Floydade, Texas, January 29, 1950, the son of Thelbert Jake Banks and Alice Margaret (James) Banks. He was in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors include 14 nieces and nephews, Vanessa Roberts, Margie Marsh, Sherry Buck, Kim Hollowell, T. G. (Buster) Hollingshead, Lori Jones, Tracy Amos, Tobi McGee, Terry Travino, Toni Delcastillo, Jaquitta Posey, Shannon Perkins, Grady Mullins and Brandon Jone, numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-niece, great-great-great-nephew and cousins.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Ann Flores, Lena Faye McGee, Linda Darnell Mullins, Reeta Kay Jones and niece, Deborah Lea Doles.
