A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will be conducted for Sidney King, age 88, of Dallas at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Friday, January 27, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. There will be no formal visitation.
Sidney King passed away at his residence Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born in Cumby on February 28, 1923, the son of Daniel W. King and Dovie (Petty) King. He was a retired assembly line worker for Ford Motor Company and he was of the Methodist faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II and received a purple heart.
Survivors include: brother, Charles Edward King of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews, including nephew, Roy King and wife, Yvonne, of Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Fay Willis and Florene Wells and six brothers, Fred King, Henry King, Carl King, Dan King, O. B. King and Bill King.
