A funeral service for Scott Ferguson, age 79 of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 with Dr. L. C. Stout and George Brown officiating. Interment will follow at North Hopkins Cemetery with Logan Ferguson, Jonny Ferguson, Jackson Ferguson, Bryce Steyer, Cameron Steffey, Ethan Carter, Landon Carter and Luke McNeil serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Durham, Vaden Richey, David Mabe, Bruce Fielden, Richard Teer, Tommy Long, George Brown, Jack Chubb and Hubert Simpson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Scott Ferguson passed away at his residence, Sunday, August 11, 2013. He was born in Soper, Oklahoma March 18, 1934, the son of Scott Clinton Ferguson, Sr. and Edith Merle (Wise) Ferguson. He married Mary Lynn Hatfield in Texarkana December 19, 1998; she survives. He was a retired superintendent of S.S.I.S.D, executive director of Region 8 Service Center and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Donna Steffey and husband Carl of Brookston, Sonja Carter and husband Stephen of Sumner, Tracy Steyer of Franklin, Tennessee and Dr. Jessie Mueller and husband Matt of Troy; son, Luke McNeil of Dallas; two brothers, Jon Ferguson and wife Jeanine of Hugo, Oklahoma and Jack Ferguson and wife Pat of Soper, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Candace Murray, Dr. Coral Steffey, Logan Ferguson, Cameron Steffey, Bryce Steyer, Alyxandra Steyer, Ethan Carter and Landon Carter and great-grandchildren, Taijean Murray, Caileigh Steffey and Tristan Ferguson. He was preceded in death by son, Gregory Scott Ferguson and his parents.
