Sarah Mathews

A funeral service for Sarah Mathews, age 93, of Sulphur Springs, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel with Mr. Randy Daw officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery with Terry Gregg, Kevin Sturgill, Seth Sturgill, Jace Sturgill, Don Mitchell, Nathan Harris, Dan Mitchell, and Junior Gregg serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Sarah Mathews passed Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 21, 1919, in Bonham to Jeff Ray Gribble and Katy Jordan Gribble. Mrs. Mathews married Joseph Edgar Mathews on December 25, 1937, in Bonham; he preceded her in death in 1994. She was a school teacher and a member of the League Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Mathews is survived by: son, Jerry Dale Mathews, of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Jo Ann Cross and husband, Ben, of Wolfe City; grandchildren, Connie Sue Mathews, Barry Lee Mathews, Dr. Carol Wise, Cheryl Oliver, and Jeanne Baxley-Cross; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler, Kinsey and Trace Mathews, Ben and Madeline Wise, and James Baxley-Cross.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Clark.
