A funeral service for Ruby Fay "Sugar" Moore, age 77, of Como, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014, with Rev. Fred Lewis and Rev. C. J. Duffey officiating. Interment will follow at Como Cemetery, with Taylor Moore, Chad Moore, David Carpenter, Grady McElyea, David Roeber, Nelson Barton, Kasey Simmons and Sammy Spencer serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.Ruby Fay "Sugar" Moore has gone to meet her Heavenly Father, loving husband and loved ones. She passed away at her residence Monday morning, January 6, 2014. She was born in Sulphur Springs July 2, 1936, the daughter of Felix Washington Carpenter and Effie Mae Crumpler Carpenter. She married Joe Neil Moore at First Baptist Church in Como October 22, 1955. He preceded her in death in 2013. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.
Survivors include: daughter, Lisa Simmons of Como; son, Terry Joe Moore and wife Patti of Mesquite; grand-children, Kasey Simmons, Taylor Moore, Kristen Nutt and Chad Moore and two great-grandchildren, J. J. Nutt and Karlee Simmons. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete Carpenter, Gan Carpenter and R. F. Carpenter and one sister, Fannie Lee "Sissy" McElyea. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
