Graveside services for Ronald W. Petty, age 60, of Sulphur Springs will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., in Reilly Springs Cemetery with Bro. Larry Baxley officiating and members of the VFW serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Ronald W. Petty passed away at his residence, Monday morning, July 7, 2008. He was born on April 13, 1948 the son of Artis Lee and Bonita Scarborough Petty. He married Jonetta Wallace on February 11, 1997 in Reilly Springs. She survives. Mr. Petty was a member of Reilly Springs Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #221, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and the VFW. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jason Wayne Petty and Jeremy Nelson Petty; three sisters, Rita Blanton, of Emory, Velita McInvale, of Shirley, and Julita Richardson, of Mahoney; three brothers, Leonard Varrell Petty, of Shirley, Lonnie Darrell Petty, of Miller Grove, and Carl Lee Petty, of Mahoney. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anita Jean Brannon. Memorials may be made to the Reilly Springs Cemetery.
