A funeral service for Roger Hodges, age 54, of Hopkins County will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tim Wright, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Emblem Cemetery, with C. J. Skeen, Tim Nelson, Darrin Fairchild, Chris Skeen, Sr., Jason Stewart and Ricky Greenhaw serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Walker, Tim Lumus, Chris Lumus, Eddie Pierce , Tom Sanderson and Mike Morgan. Visitation will be held one hour before the service (1:00 p.m.)
Roger Hodges passed away at his residence Friday afternoon, October 5, 2012. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 8, 1958, the son of Robert Hodges and Barbara (Koontz) Hodges. He married Angela Gayle Nelson in Ashville, North Carolina on September 15, 1978; she survives. He was a self-employed carpenter, a long-time race car driver and a member of New Richland Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: daughter, Angela Gayle Hodges; son, Adam Joshua Hodges; brother, Charles Adam Hodges, all of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren,
C. J. Skeen, Chealsey Skeen, Aaliyah Hogan-Hodges and Madison Lynn Hogan-Hodges. He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Barbara Joan Lee and brother, Thomas Hodges.
