Rodrigo Gonzalez

A graveside service for Rodrigo Ramirez Gonzalez, age 83, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Wheelock Cemetery in Wheelock, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Gonzales, Esteban Gonzales, Leeroy Gonzales, Leo Gonzales, Jerry Gonzalez, Jimmy Gutierrez, Elias Gutierrez and Lorenzo Gutierrez. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 30 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Rodrigo died Sunday April 27, 2014 in Sulphur Springs.

He was born March 13, 1931 in Rio Grande City, Texas, the son of Donato Vargas Gonzalez and Delfina Ramirez Gonzalez.

He was a cattle rancher and he was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include two sons, Arturo Vasquez and Gilbert Gonzales; daughter, Gloria Vitonnel; sisters, Aurroa Martinez, Bea Gonzalez, Adelina Gutierrez, Elvira Alonzo, Susan Alaman, Clara Molinar, Cindy DeLeon, Juanita DeLeon; brother, Lonnie Gonzalez and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Gonzalez, and sister, Sofia Ramos.
