Graveside f uneral services for Robert Underwood, age 57, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Rev. Terry Bryan will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Trumble, Marvin Terry, Don Sapaugh, Jessee Jackson, and Don Combs.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at the funeral home.
Mr. Underwood passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008, in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ripley, Tennessee, on September 10, 1949, the son of Robert Lee Underwood, Sr. and Ruby Brown Underwood. He married Debra Lynn Box, in Sulphur Springs, on April 3, 2003. She survives.
Mr. Underwood was a retired deputy sheriff with the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robby Lee Underwood, of Tyler, and Jason Eugene Roberts of Sulphur Springs; two daughters, Bonnie Amanda Kelso, of Detroit, Michigan, and Larissa Janee Roberts of Avery; four brothers, Floyd Underwood, Charles Underwood, Jessee Underwood and Steve Underwood, all of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Darlene Robbins and Jonell, both of Sulphur Springs; and seven grandchildren, Dylan Tulley, Alec Kelso, Zach Kelso, Naci Roberts, Stephen Roberts, Justin Ashley, and Cheslee Roberts.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Betty Smith; a brother, William Underwood; and a sister, Betty Beadles.
