A funeral service for Robert Echols, age 64, of Cooper, will be conducted at First United Methodist Church in Cooper, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, with Stacy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Smoky Road Ranch, with Shane Oats, Mickey Oats, Edward Bond, Jason Ingram, David Redus and Tommy Beazley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Carrington, Terry Stevenson, Eldon Bond, Jr. Layne Tucker, Richard Hayes, and Ronnie Davidson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Enloe Methodist Church.
Robert Echols passed away Tuesday morning, December 17, 2013 at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. He was born in Paris on July 4, 1949, the son of Preston Echols and Ruth Harvey Echols. He married Becky Tucker in Wolfe City in 1973; she survives. He was a banker for 37 years at Heritage Land Bank where he was the chief credit officer. He held bachelor's and master's degrees from East Texas State University. He was a member of Enloe Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Charlotte Garner and husband Jason of Leonard and Elizabeth Echols and husband Jody Maxwell of Cooper; son, Matthew Echols and wife, Abbey of Sherman; chosen child Logan Kelley and wife Carolyn of Dallas; three sisters, Linda Miller of Nocona, Elaine Fore and husband Fred of Honey Grove; Amy Fisher of Paris and brother-in-law John Fisher of Paris, grandchildren, Corbin Garner and Emerson Garner and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Robert Echols Memorial Scholarship Fund at Enloe State Bank.
