Raymond Thorne

July 5, 1929 — February 17, 2018

Memorial service with Military Honors for Raymond Dale “Pete” Thorne will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Stinson and Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Thorne passed away on February 17, 2018 at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano.

Raymond Dale “Pete” Thorne was born July 5, 1929, to Daniel Sylvester Thorne and Nora Frances (Bloxom) Thorne in Rotan, TX. He married Scenia Joan Landers on December 29, 1951; she preceded him in death in 2006. Mr. Thorne served in the Field Artillery division of the United States Army. He was an investigator for the Internal Revenue Service and an accountant for Baptist Bible Fellowship International. Mr. Thorne was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters, Rannah McCoy and husband, Jack, of Sulphur Springs, Tracy Thorne, of Sulphur Springs, Suzanne Christ and husband, Mark, of O’Fallon, IL; son, Mike Thorne and wife, Michelle, of Republic, MO; grandchildren, Laura McCoy, Amber Miller, Hannah Christ, Micaela Thorne, Megan Thorne; and great-grandchildren, Celeste McCoy, Aaiden Wisniewski, and Paxton Miller.

Mr. Thorne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Ann Aldeman, Melva Edwards, Dorothy Northcott, and brothers, Hollis Thorne, E.D. Thorne, and Frank Thorne.
