A funeral service for Ray D. Miller, age 82, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Central Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013, with Rev. Bruce Stinson, Dr. Juan Harrison and Randy Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mahoney Cemetery with Butch McIllwain, Dusty McIllwain, Eugene McIllwain, Ray Petty, Craig Buck, Dewayne Brzeski and Jimmy Beck serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Delvin Fitzgerald, Doyle Starrett, Dennis Jordan, J. R. Jones and James Loveless. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Ray D. Miller passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Tuesday,
December 10, 2013 after enduring a long-standing heart condition. He was born in Brashear on November 5, 1931, the son of John Gilbert Miller and Maudie Morehead Miller. He married Wilma Sue McIllwain at Mahoney on July 8, 1956; she survives. He was a retired dairyman and a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church where he had served as a trustee and treasurer. He also served on the North Hopkins Water Board and the Mahoney Cemetery Association Board.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Letha Denene Miller Bowen and husband Chris of Tyler, Angela Gayle Miller Hansen and husband Fred of Arvada, Colorado and Amy Diane Miller Gregg and husband Brian of Chandler; grandchildren, Caleb Ray Miller and Brittany, Claudia Lauren Bowen and Elias Gregg; great-grandchild, Brynlee Rae Miller and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Miller and Harold Miller; infant daughter, Karen Reneé Miller and infant great-granddaughter, Lila Grace Miller.
