Funeral services for R. C. Vickers, age 92, of Paris, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009, with Rev. B. J. Teer officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Chris Vickers, Greg Vickers, Bryan Williams, Gary Tice, Matthew Tice, C. J. Davis, Jason Vickers and Justin Vickers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
R. C. Vickers passed away Saturday afternoon, December 12, 2009 at Brentwood Terrace Nursing Home in Paris. He was born in Dike, on July 6, 1917, the son of Elmer Vickers and Kate (Burkhart) Vickers. He married Lola Green in Sulphur Springs, on October 8, 1938; she survives. Mr. Vickers was a retired mechanic, having worked for ICX Trucking and he was of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: son, Royce Vickers of Paris; brother, J. D. Vickers of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Mary Hurt of Quitman and Margie Hall of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Chris Vickers, Greg Vickers, Leslie Howard, Matthew Tice, Gary Tice and Bryan Williams and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Joyce Tice and four sisters, Irene Hargrave, Edith Garner, Lorene Beckham and Evalee Williamson.
