A memorial service for R.C. Calhoun, age 89, of Yantis, was conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. , Saturday, April 13, 2013, with Brother B. J. Teer officiating.
R. C. Calhoun passed away Wednesday morning, April 10, 2013, at Rock Creek Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Fullerton, Louisiana, the son of Penn and Nettie Calhoun. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Francis Calhoun. He was a truck driver for Missouri Pacific Railroad. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Patricia Wolf and Ronald, Phyllis Calhoun, all of Houston and Pamela McAlister of Cypress; three sons, Milton Calhoun and Myra of Anacoco, Louisiana, Cecil Calhoun and Debbie of Ruston, Louisiana and Michael Calhoun and Gail of Yantis; grandchildren, Kimberly and Scott Mowry, Ambra and Shane Borak, Stephania and Barry Traylor, Wayne and Christina McAlister, Benjamin Calhoun, Andy Calhoun and Jana, C. J. Calhoun and Julie, Deserae Calhoun, Christopher Calhoun, Victoria Calhoun, Matthew Calhoun and Johnathon Calhoun and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
