Philip Downs

A memorial service for Philip Downs, age 63, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, with Brother B. J. Teer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour (1:00 p.m.) prior to the service.
Philip Downs passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Dallas March 30, 1948, the son of Shelley Thomas Downs, III and Ruby (Thomas) Downs. He married Judith Emerson in Dallas on April 16, 1989; she survives. He was a machinist and tool die maker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Stephanie Bronson of Sulphur Springs and Angela Luckett of Michigan; four sons, Stephen Simpson of Sulphur Springs, John Luckett of Carrollton, Michael Downs and Brian Downs; mother, Ruby Morgan; two brothers, Craig Downs and James Morgan and sister, Debra Braudaway, all of Grand Prairie and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Shelley Thomas Downs, IV and David Downs. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
