Funeral services for Pauline Aven, age 86, of Yantis will be held at League Street Church of Christ, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2008, with Lynn Turner and Travis Aven officiating. Interment will follow at Arbala Cemetery with Mrs. Aven's grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Pauline Aven passed away Saturday morning , July 5, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Arbala, on August 27, 1921, the daughter of William F. and Willie Alma Nichols Chamness. She married A. Z. Aven in Brashear, on June 17, 1939. He preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Aven held a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, in 1973, and two masters' degrees from Texas Eastern University, in 1976 and University of Texas at Tyler, in 1979. She was a retired teacher, a homemaker and a member of League Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elaine Roberson of Abilene and Sonja Gambrel of Yantis; two sons, Travis Aven of Arbala and Gary Aven of Yantis; brother, William E. Chamness of Yantis and grandchildren, Roy Layne Roberson, Kendall Lee Roberson, Kristy Smith, Teena Roberson, Eric Gambrel, Lynette Fountain, Crockett Gambrel, Jason Long, Lisa Hanna, Lonnie Aven, Nichole Aven, Erin Aven, Anthony Aven and Frank Aven and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
