Paul Thurman

Funeral services for Paul Thurman, age 95, of Winnsboro, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday. July 5, 2008, with Rev. Patrick Gernenz officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with the men of Tabernacle Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 4, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Paul Thurman passed away Thursday morning, July 3, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on September 25, 1912, the son of Carl and Ola Kennedy Thurman. He married Alta Williams, at Kaufman, on June 10, 1939; she survives. Mr. Thurman was a retired technician with Lone Star Gas , a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Pickton, and a avid Texas Tech Red Raiders fan.
Other survivors include: son, Bruce Thurman of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Paulette Purdy, and husband, C.J. of Pickton; grandchildren, Cherri and Weldon Killingsworth and Dyon Purdy, & fiancee, Lindsey Sims . Two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Trevor Killingsworth. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Robert Thurman and two sisters, Myrtle Black and Alline Summers. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Mission Fund.
