Paul went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 9, 2015 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was born August 26, 1923 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of William Sam Rosamond and wife Elizabeth Ann Horschler. He married Betty Frances Growe on May 8, 1943 shortly before leaving for Cadet Officer Training preparing to be shipped overseas as part of the Allied invasion of Normandy, France. Paul landed on Utah Beach with the 80th Division famed 317th Infantry on August 5, 1944 and participated in General Patton's 3rd army advance across Northern France. He was severely wounded being awarded a Purple Heart with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, 3 bronze service stars, and various military ribbons. His wounds included the loss of his left thumb and index finger, among other life-threatening wounds. However, by God's providence, Paul returned home to his lovely wife and they enjoyed almost 71 years together until Betty passed away March 31, 2014. The happy couple was blessed with 3 children, David, Larry, and Sherry. Betty and Paul joined First Baptist on July 15, 1945 after hearing the fiery new preacher, W.A. Criswell. They reared their children in FBC and felt greatly rewarded to see all three trust in Jesus as Savior, and be baptized by Dr. Criswell. Paul was ordained as a deacon in 1966, he and Betty taught in Young Marrieds, and were active members until health issues prevented their attendance. Mr. Rosamond joined New York Life Insurance Company as an agent in 1950 and continued until he retired. Paul is remembered for selling insurance to protect the living, but more importantly for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ that others might know the assurance of eternal life in Him.
