A funeral service for Paul E. Lawrence, Sr. of Como, will be conducted at Como United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, with Rev. Beverly Olson and Rev. Henry Suchi officiating. Interment will follow at Como Cemetery, with Steve Sheedy, John Mitchell, Alan Caddell, Danny Ray Moss, Michael Lawrence and Dr. Danny Lawrence, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Rowell, John Beezley, Ron Bentley, Jerry Caddell, Sonny Moss, Jim Barnhart, Richard Teer, Bill Evans, Gary Anderson and Mark Humphrey. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Paul E. Lawrence, Sr. passed away Saturday evening, January 5, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. He was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania March 2, 1940, the son of Robert H. Lawrence and Mildred (Kline) Lawrence. He graduated from Shikallemy High School in 1957 and joined the United States Air Force, serving as a jet engine mechanic. He met and married Jann Huckaby on September 12, 1958 while stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene . After his military service, he worked as an aircraft electrician for Ling-Temco and was in the dairy business for over 30 years. He also served as a Hopkins County Constable. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the Freemasons and a devoted volunteer to his community.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his children, Paul Jr. and Jane Lawrence of West Chester, Pennsylvania, David and Jan Lawrence of Muleshoe, TX, Steve Lawrence of New Castle, Pennsylvania and Cynthia and Joel Sample of Lindale. "Grandaddy" is also survived by ten grandchildren, Michael Lawrence, Dr. Danny Lawrence, Abby Kirby, Jacy Henrich, Alyssa Lawrence, Andi Lawrence, Britney Caldwell, Jandi Lawrence, Lauren Sample and Garrett Sample; six great-grandchildren, Landri Lawrence, Sam Lawrence, Kobi Kirby, Raegan Kirby, Hallie Lawrence and Trace Caldwell; six siblings, Robert Lawrence, Raymond Lawrence, Jerry Lawrence and Terry Lawrence, all of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Alice Dryer of Elysburg, Pennsylvania and Carol Bradigan of Dansfife, Pennsylvania and brother-in-law, Don Smith of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Lawrence and Jay Lawrence and grandson, Jason Lawrence.
