Opal Schroer

Funeral services for Opal Schroer, age 87, of Jacksonville, Texas, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bob Huddleston officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Cemetery, in Rains County. Mrs. Schroer's nephews will serve as pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation.
Opal Schroer passed away Saturday morning, April 11, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Rains County on December 2, 1921, the daughter of William T. Fitzgerald and Kate (Montgomery) Fitzgerald. She married Robert E. Schroer in Houston, on November 22, 1964. He preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Schroer was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Survivors include; two sons, Terry Loyd of Litchfield, Michigan, Michael Loyd of Jacksonville; two sisters, Peggy Fitzgerald and Joyce Ashley, both of Tyler; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Dennis Loyd, one sister and five brothers.
