Olen Townsend

A funeral service for Olen Townsend, age 89, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Neal Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Sherley Cemetery, with Mark Swanson, David Swanson, Dr. Chris Hammons, Jordan Jones, Deke Jones, Juddson Maloney, Bradford Diener,Derek Dickson and Dakota Diener serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Olen Townsend passed away Tuesday evening, August 20, 2013 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Mahoney on March 14, 1924, the son of George James "Tod" Townsend and Mattie Alverta (Johnson) Townsend. He was a retired maintenance worker for Rockwell International and he was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include: four daughters, Kathy Swanson and husband Lanoy, Janie Patton, Betty Jones and husband Roger, all of Sulphur Springs and Diann Diener and husband Brad of Mahoney; brother, Troy Townsend of Emory; grandchildren, Mark Swanson, Kim George, David Swanson, Jennifer Patton, Jessica Freeman, Juddson Maloney, Wade Jones, Dr. Chris Hammons, Leiah Garcia, Deke Jones, Jordan Jones, Lesley Overstreet, Heather Nolen, Brandy Robinson, Hannah Morris and Bradford Diener; 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; son, Leslie Townsend; four brothers and two sisters.
