Funeral services for Nolen Wesson Grubbs, age 71, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery, with Keith Grubbs, Michael Lyn Weatherall, Lonnie Wallis, Terry Wesson Weatherall and Jeremy Weatherall serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Nolen Wesson Grubbs passed away Monday evening, June 8, 2009, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on February 19, 1938, the son of Elmer Grubbs and Flossie (Wesson) Grubbs. He was married to Yvonne Briscoe; she survives. Mr. Grubbs was retired from the City of Dallas street crew and ranching. He served in the United States Army.
Other survivors include: three sons, Mark Grubbs, Keith Grubbs, both of Quinlan, and Terry Grubbs of Mesquite; eight grandchildren, Michael Mark Grubbs, Joseph John Grubbs, Laurie Weatherall, Jeremy Weatherall, Michael Lyn Weatherall, Terry Wesson Weatherall, Zachary Shane Grubbs and Tori Grubbs; two brothers, Kenneth Grubbs of Quitman and Elmer Grubbs, Jr. of Lakin, Kansas; three sisters, Ralphie Harrod of Yantis, Peggy Gamblin of De Soto and Shirley Orr of Pickton and Stepdaughter, Melody Wallis of Talco. He was preceded in death by son, John Grubbs and granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Grubbs. Memorials may be made to The American Society.
