Funeral services for Myrtle Kennimer, age 90, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Myra Wilson Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008, with Rev. John Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery, with Mrs. Kennimer's grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Myrtle Kennimer passed away Sunday morning, June 22, 2008, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Panola County, on April 7, 1918, the daughter of Charlie H. and Effie Elizabeth McCormick Brown. She married Roy Lee Kennimer, Sr., in Quitman, on December 22, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Kennimer was a retired seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: five daughters, Joyce Ann Gregg and husband, Carroll, of Sulphur Springs, Shirlene Crum and husband, David (Buck), Bettye Sue Kersten and husband, Jerry T., all of Yantis, Linda Rose Mitchell and husband, Robert, of White Oak and Patsy Lue Barsness of Minnesota; two sons, Richard Wayne Kennimer of Rockwall and Roy Lee Kennimer, Jr. of Kilgore; daughter-in-law, Linda Kennimer of Rockwall; two sisters, Ruth Millsap of Barlesville, Oklahoma and Nell Rosamond of Yantis;; 35 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, Donald and Mary Skelton. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Essie May Douglas, Stella Rollins and Frances Pink Brown and three brothers, George Brown, Ervin Brown and Walter Jack Brown.
