Sulphur Springs

Mike Hicks Dunlap, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and beloved member of his community passed away on May 4th, 2023 in Sulphur Springs. He was born on January 25th, 1949.

Mike was very proud of his children; Michael A. Hicks and wife Andrea, Marcell A. Hicks and wife Latrica, Kismit Hicks Rawlings and husband Marvin, Josey A. Hicks, who will miss their father greatly. He loved spending time with them and telling stories about his life experiences. He also leaves behind ten adored grandchildren, Mykayla, Jasmine, Myion, Jaycie, Karlee, Anthony, Avery, Charli, Allan and Amelia who brought him much joy and happiness.

Mike's growth relied on the love of his grandparents Emily and Ewing Hicks who raised him along with his siblings that have preceded him in death.

Mike had many professional endeavors throughout his life including working as a land surveyor which became part of his passion for exploring the world around him. His work as a plant worker allowed him to provide for his family while sharing with them the value of hard work.

Mike's strong faith was an integral part of his life as a Deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served God by sharing the gospel as a Sunday school teacher; this is where many people knew him best.

Mike will be remembered for many things including his unwavering faith in God, devotion to family and friends but most especially for the kindness he showed to everyone that he encountered throughout his lifetime.

Though he is no longer with us physically Mike will always be remembered in the memories shared by those who knew him, his smile will never be forgotten and his impact on his community will forever live on.
