Michael Chrisman

November 30, 1956 — March 19, 2009

Michael Robert Chrisman, age 52. of Sulphur Springs, passed away at Parkland Hospital, in Dallas, Thursday evening, March 19, 2009. He was born in LaGrande, Oregon, on November 30, 1956, the son of Wallace Chrisman, Sr. and Mary (Boynton) Chrisman. He married Retha Aline Whirley in Quitman, on April 3, 1979; she survives. Mr. Chrisman was a self-employed construction worker. He served in the United States Army. Mike, as a Christian, actively served the Lord in church and community, praying for others, helping when needed. Mike loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, witnessing and talking on the CB; he was known as Iron rider - prayer warrior for Jesus.
Other survivors include: daughter, Ashley Wright of Greenville; son, James Robert Smith (Laci Smith) of Van; four nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; two grandchildren; Rethas children, Phyllis Cox, Betty Morris, Herman Morris and LA Morris, all of Sulphur Springs, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Debra Pryor (Lee Edward Pryor) of Sulphur Springs; Tammy Nepomuceno of Belton, Brenda Chrisman; brother, Wallace Chrisman, Jr, both of Ridgeway. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Ridgeway Cemetery.
