Funeral services for Merlene Sprague, age 74, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, with Rev. Jim Kimberling officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Mickey Correa, Glenn Heffington, Javier Correa, Obie Miller, Keith Monk and Olliver Jetton serving as pallbearers`. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (1:00 p.m.).
Merlene Sprague passed away Sunday evening, March 14, 2010 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hopkins County on November 24, 1935, the daughter of C. Q. and Zola Braden. She married Ernest Gifford Rogers. He preceded her in death. She married Lem Sprague. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Sprague was a retired waitress, having worked at Crossroads Café
Survivors include: daughter, Tina McCourt and husband, Kevin of Dallas; stepdaughter, Kathy Newland of Forney; brother, Joe Bob Braden of Plano; two sisters, Maudine Love of Como and Mary Jo Anderson of Forney; grandchild, Shane Rogers and great-grandchild, Tyler Rogers. She was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Rogers and Ernest Rogers, Jr; four brothers, Felix Braden, George Braden, Fred Braden and Buddy Braden and sister, Opal Ashmore.
