Funeral service for Maxine George, age 77, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Spence Chapel, First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Arbala Cemetery with Christopher Alford, Dillon Smith, David Duncan, Chad Rawson, Jerry Crawford, Richard Franks serving as pallbearers and Derrick Dickson serving as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. George passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Carriage House, Sulphur Springs.
Maxine was born on February 26, 1942 in Hopkins County, to Truett and Nadine English. She married Robert Clyde George on June 16, 1978 at Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. She worked at HD Lee for many years. Maxine was also a bookkeeper for Rhema Christian Fellowship, New Beginnings Church Shady Grove Water Supply and with R.C. George and Son’s Plumbing. She was a member of the Trinity Gospel singers, church secretary and member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, R.C.; children, Sharon Alexander and husband, Wayde, Mike Smith and wife, Lynn, Tim George, Rob George, Pam George; grandchildren, Chandra Maddox, Christopher Alford, Dillon Smith, Magan Smith, Nikki George, Desiree Mendenhall, Taylor Dickson, Harley Kerby; great grandchildren, Lily Smith, Gage Maddox; sister, Jane Easley.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
