A graveside service for Max Elvis Scott, age 83, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Mahoney Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Max Elvis Scott passed away Monday morning, March 1, 2010 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born in Trenton on February 3, 1927, the son of Robert Irvin Scott and Alice Anna (Smith) Scott. He married Virginia Pierson who preceded him in death in 1989. Mr. Scott was a retired truck driver from Emory Air Freight and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a volunteer for Meal-A-Day and he was a member of Professional AG Workers.
Survivors include: two sons, Max E. Scott of Rio Rancho New Mexico and Mark Scott of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Brenda Shrader of Sulphur Springs; sister, JoAnne Powell of Sache; grandchildren, Julie Cooke, Captain Wendy Wright of the United States Army, Danielle Scott, Captain Joshua Shrader of the United States Army Rangers and Ruthey Washington and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
