Mattie Jones

A visitation for Mattie Lou Jones, age 90 of Ben Wheeler on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. No services are scheduled.

Mrs. Jones passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Chandler Nursing Home. She was born on July 9, 1925 in Posey, the daughter of Luther Pete and Josie Bell Dixon. She married Max V. Jones on February 17, 1974 in Gregg County. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a retired waitress, was a long standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #12 of Tyler and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her half-brother, Curtis Dixon of Sulphur Springs; half-sister, Linda Simmons of Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law, Kathy Waldrep; beloved friends and caregivers, Bill and Joyce Jones of Ben Wheeler and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lester Dixon, Billy Wayne Dixon; half-brothers, Jimmy Waldrep, Donald Waldrep, James Dixon and Johnny Dixon.
