Matt Matlock

Funeral service for Matt Matlock, age 54, of Saltillo, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Danny Christenberry officiating and with Mike Umbaugh, Beau Orren, Daniel Elliot, Patrick Nichols, Rusty Garmin, and Brent Heflen serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Mr. Matlock passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his residence.

Matt was born on December 18, 1967 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Larry Grayson and Eva (Waggoner) Collins. He married Tammy Mills on July 20, 1991 in Weaver, Texas. Matt wore many hats throughout his life including that of a carpenter, dairyman, and a construction contractor to name a few. He loved spending time with his friends and never met a stranger. He had enough stories to fill a book and would tell them as long as someone would sit and listen. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved competition and could beat anyone at just about anything he put his mind to. His favorite way to spend the day was playing pool or foosball with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy; son, Payton Matlock of Saltillo; daughter, Shelby Matlock of San Marcos; mother, Eva Collins of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Toni Doss of Mt. Pleasant, and Melissa Winkle and husband, Andrew, of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Teresa Minick and husband, Joe of Weaver; brother-in-law, David Mills of Sulphur Springs; and his nieces and nephews, Tiffany Kemp, Holly Kemp, Juanita Minick, Samantha Minick, Betty Mills, Emmy Winkle, Kirby Mills, Mikki Mills, and Hunter Mills.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Howard Collins; niece, Rabecca Kemp; and nephew, Kenny Minick.
