Graveside funeral services for Mary Pilcher Thompson, 46, of Sulphur Springs will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Hopewell Cemetery with Rev. Russell Floyd and Rev. Debbie Riggsby officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Mary Jean Pilcher Thompson passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Overton on August 2, 1963, the daughter of Joe Myrl and Audrey Hopkins Pilcher. She married Tommy Thompson in Sulphur Springs on December 31, 1994. He preceded her in death in 2008. Mary had a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. She attended Texas A&M University in College Station, New England Culinary Institute, and Texas A&M in Commerce. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs.
Mary was a very loving and generous person. In 1999, she donated one of her kidneys to her mom. She volunteered for Hospice at Memorial and had a deep love for animals. Mary and Tommy loved to travel and lived in many exotic locations over the years.
Survivors include: her mother, Audrey Pilcher of Sulphur Springs; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Myra Watson and husband, David of Sulphur Springs, Joy Hart and husband, Michael of Rockwall; two nieces , Megan Watson, and Kate Watson; one nephew, Ben Watson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Pilcher.
