Mary Thomas

Mary Ann PerkinsThomas, age 74, of Longview, formerly of Hopkins County passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Summer Meadows Nursing Home in Longview. She was born in Sulphur Springs, February 19, 1935, the daughter of Roger Perkins and Alice (Stevens) Perkins. She married Ben L. Thomas, III, in Shreveport, in 1970. He preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Thomas was a 1956 graduate of Methodist School of Nursing in Dallas. She received the commission of captain with the United States Air Force flight nurse program at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and graduated from the United States Air Force flight nursing school at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Survivors include: son, James Thomas of Longview, grandchild, Cooper Thomas and step-sister, Barbra McCarley of Sulphur Springs. She was preceded in death by sister, Rebecca Kellogg.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
