Funeral Services for Mary Ragan, age 82, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery, with Clint Debord, Paul Chezem, Dan Leach, Mike Smith, James Battersby, Ray Ragan and Andy Ragan serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour before the service (12:00 Noon)
Mary Ragan passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Thursday, March 15, 2012. She was born in Tahoka, August 29, 1929, the daughter of Frank Chezem and Pearl (Robinson) Chezem. She married Milford Ray Ragan in Sulphur Springs on August 2, 1946. He preceded her in death. She was a retired beautician and a member of Shooks Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two sisters, Pat Goen of Greenville and Liz McKinley; daughter-in-law, Jennie Ragan, both of Sulphur Springs; two grandsons, Dr. Dustin Ragan and wife, Dr. Gwen Hoben of St. Louis, Missouri and William Ragan of Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law, Mary Chezem; nieces, Diana Battersby, Debbye Leach, Lynn Smith and Leah Winstead; nephews, Paul Chezem, Clint Debord, Ken McKinley, Ray Ragan and Andy Ragan and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by son, Kenneth Ray Ragan; three brothers, Bob Chezem, Kenneth Chezem and Alex "Duffy" Chezem; nieces, Donna Havens Webb and Angie DeBord and nephews, David Wayne Chezem and Max Wayne Havens.
Memorials may be made to Shooks Chapel Cemetery Association and/or Sherley Cemetery Association.
