Mary Chalupa

Private services for Mary Lee Chalupa, age 85 of Sulphur Springs were held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Johnston officiating. There was no formal visitation.

Mrs. Chalupa passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Granger on July 23, 1929, the daughter of Louis Christian and Ida Emma (Walther) Merkord. She married Alfred Chalupa on March 13, 1948 in Round Rock. He preceded her in death in 2008. She was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include sons, George Chalupa and Paul Chalupa, both of Sulphur Springs; daughters, Bernice Pausewang and Peggy Temples, both of Holland; brother, Robert Merkord of Wimberly; sister, Evelyn Wilhem of Austin; two grandsons, Kevin Strickland of Holland and Josh Pausewang of Troy; two great-grandsons, Justin Strickland and Tommy Strickland, both of Holland; great-granddaughter, Hayley Strickland of Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Jerry Chalupa.
