Funeral services for Marvelle Maynard, age 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, with Dr. Dan Haver officiating. Interment will follow at Hoover Cemetery in Big Sandy , with Brian Maynard, Rodney Maynard, Jr., Jerry Maynard, Johnny Maynard, J. D. Maynard, J. R. Stark, Joe Womack, Jr., Michael Howard and Johnny Rivers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Marvell Maynard passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Sunday afternoon, May 18, 2008. She was born in Stolesberry, Misouri, on May 16, 2008, the daughter of Christopher Merle and Ruth Tracy Armstrong. She married R. V. Maynard in Cooper, on November 24, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Maynard was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of World Wide Church of God in Big Sandy .
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Bingham of Sulphur Springs and Mary King of Ft. Myers, Florida; three sons, Gary Maynard, Tony Maynard, both of Sulphur Springs and Jeff Maynard of Pittsburg; three sisters, Alice Dittering of Winnsboro, Viola Bryant of Arkansas and Barbara Hill of Sulphur Springs; four brothers, Jimmy Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, both of Harrison, Arkansas, Tommy Armstrong of Cleveland, Tennessee and Benny Armstrong of Sulphur Springs; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by son, Rodney Maynard and two sisters, Maxine Lowden and Roberta Parnell. Memorials may be made to the Hoover Cemetery Association in Big Sandy .
