Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Marieta Alexander blessed her family and the entire Brashear community on September 19, 1932 as she was born into the farming family of Ross and Katie Noble. She was youngest of seven and was the little sister to three brothers, Cleo, James and Audrey and three sisters Odesa (Davis), Oleta (Hopkins) and Evelyn (Adley). She attended school in Brashear, Cumby and graduated from S S Connor High School in Dallas after her dad had a career change that moved the family from Brashear for a few years. After graduation she began working for Reliable Life Insurance Company but knew that her life long goal was to become a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Her strong faith in the Lord was evident and she was an active member of the Shady Vale Church of Christ in Dallas. A handsome young man had just returned from the military and began to attend church. Marieta learned that his name was Clifton Alexander and after their first date to the Fort Worth Stock Show in 1954 she had met the man of her dreams. On May 14, 1954 they made a covenant that would last for 58 years and only broken by Clifton’s death in November 2012.

They had many wonderful years together that they cherished.

The pride of their lives was the arrival of 2 sons, Dwight and Rodney and one daughter, Cynthia. Marieta was always at Clifton’s side. They began the dairy business together when they returned to Hopkins County in 1959. They started with a very small operation but with her encouragement and willingness to do whatever it took to be successful they built the nation’s largest registered Brown Swiss dairy farm along with their son Dwight. Many wonderful opportunities came to travel with the cattle associations and marketing of the cattle to other countries. She was a vital part of the family business.

Marieta had a gift of cooking that would rate with the best of true southern style cooking along with hospitality to match.

Her fulfillment came in preparing everyone’s favorite dish on holidays and serving her growing family. She not only loved her children, but she embraced and supported their spouses. She is survived by Dwight and Michelle Alexander, Rodney and Elizabeth Alexander and Cynthia and Rex Johnson. Grandchildren are Grant Alexander, Collin and Jessica Alexander, Julia and Andrew Belcher, Kaleigh and Kevin Hatcher, Joel and Molly Thompson, William Thompson, Hannah Alexander, Rachel Alexander, Haddon Alexander, Katelyn and Brian Herrera and Alex Johnson. Great Grand children are Perry and James Belcher, Benton Hatcher, Katie June Alexander, Olivia and Grayson Herrera.

Marieta’s devotion to her Lord and her church family was evident with her long commitment to the League Street Church of Christ where she continued to be active. She brought joy, happiness and love to everyone she touched in all areas of her life. Proverbs 31: 10-31.
